Inclusive design isn’t about making play areas accessible to People of Determination. It’s about making a difference to the lives of children and their parents by designing play areas for all people of all ages and abilities.Inclusive design is different to accessible design for People of Determination.
Gebal design areas so that people of determination can socialize with able bodied children within the same space. We design to encourage all children to engage in challenging activities which build positive esteem and resilience. We begin by looking at children’s strengths, not disabilities.
Gebal Inclusive playgrounds are much more than choosing colourful play components and connecting them to ramped inclines. A really great inclusive play space provides access, promotes inclusive play between children of all abilities, and the whole community.
When we can provide children and families with inclusive environments that promote playing together more independently, children feel respected and encouraged to engage in activity. Their parents and carers feel nurtured and part of society. Here are the categories of disability that we provide for within inclusive play spaces
Gebal can assist you with a step-by-step inclusion assessment of your play area. Whether it’s a new site that has not been built yet or an existing site that needs some TLC, we can suggest ways that will make a difference at any price point.
